Travelling in Your Own Backyard
Reviewer: Reviewer - Legends Magazine
(5 out of 5 Stars)
“Though Legends Travel usually opts to introduce Torontonians to music outside of North America, DJ A.M.'s new disc allows Toronto listeners to travel through the tunnels of their own backyard. This disc confirms the urban traveller’s belief that the experience of exploring one's native city, if approached by the right mind, can be just as ecelectic and worldly”

This is a really interesting, eclectic mix of layers. I especially like the songs that feature those familiar TTC sounds. Incidentally, my favourite AM song is Joey...which is not on this album but worth mentioning never the less.

Dub Rock: The Next Generation

This is a superb piece of electronically-created art. Trip-hop meets jazz meets dub...every sample fits, every beat is irresistable and hypnotic. The pefect balance of computer manipulation and old-fashioned live performers, (who are all excellent in their own rights, by the way). This CD is multi-purpose too; you can chill to it, dance to it, or get your mack on to it...;) Pick it up. In a sea of cookie-cutter sounding artists, "This Is Me, Dancing" is a breath of fresh air.

Ear Candy!

This CD is like a really good gobstopper that lasts forever, but keeps revealing a surprising new layer of musical sweetness with each listen! I love the variety on this disc - A.M. definitley has a style of his own, but it's musically complex & clever and never gets boring.

You must listen to this disc!

This is the work of a true musician. It is an amazing mix of sampling, live instruments, and voice that is both funny and beautiful. AM, please make more music!

Intriguing soundscape effects + creative rhythms and sound clips = fabulous!

I loved the eclectic mix of sources used in this album. Evocative soundscapes from recordings done in the TO subway mix with neat music samples, intricate rhythms and a fascinating variety of electronic music. Try it, you'll like it!!
